The image of the cabinet in an apartment in Borodyanka, Kyiv region, has begun to circulate on social media as well.

The picture was first posted on Twitter on Thursday by @agremantida. “Take an example from the shelf,“the Twitter user wrote as a caption.

The apartment was hit by Russian shelling, destroying the majority of the room and adjacent rooms, according to a TCH report.

Twitter users were quick to share the image and proudly proclaimed that, like the cabinet, Ukraine still remained standing despite the efforts of the Russian military.

A member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Roman Hryshchuk, shared the image and insisted it was a great metaphor for the determination of the Ukrainian people.

“Do you want to know how we are feeling in Ukraine?” Hryshchuk wrote as a caption.

“Like this shelf. Russians try to break us, but we are holding on. And we will hold on to victory,”

“This house, like many others, we will rebuild. And we will build many other houses, schools, hospitals, and theaters. Ukraine will rise like a phoenix.” he said.

In the picture, a stack of plates can also be seen, as well as a jug in the shape of a rooster sitting on top of the cabinet.

Other social media users have shared the picture to simply bring attention to the destruction Ukrainians face as a result of the Russian invasion.

“This used to be someone’s kitchen. #Ukraine#UkraineRussianWar,” Ukrainian journalist Ostap Yarysh wrote as a caption after sharing the picture.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Borodyanka may have suffered a worse fate than that of Bucha at the hands of the Russians, according to a report in the Independent.

Zelensky said the situation in the town, about 15 miles from Bucha, was “significantly more dreadful.”

Bucha has become a talking point of the Ukraine war with accusations of Russian war crimes fueled after the bodies of men were found lying in the city’s streets, appearing to have been killed at close range, some with their hands tied behind their backs. The Kremlin has repeatedly denied these claims and insists its soldiers have not committed war crimes.

Borodyanka has multiple collapsed buildings, wrecked cars and piles of rubble following the bombardment from Russia, according to a BBC report.

Several witnesses told the BBC that Russian troops prevented people from attempting to dig survivors out of wreckage and threatened them at gunpoint.

The level of civilian losses Borodyanka has suffered at the hands of the Russian army is not yet clear.
