A clip of the cat was shared to TikTok by his owner p_malina with the caption: “When your kitten thinks he’s a rabbit too.”

The video shows the kitten carefully studying his rabbit friend’s movements, before unleashing his own adorably buoyant bunny hop. You can watch it here.

As the video demonstrates, the cat doesn’t limit himself to one hop but shows off a series of jumps and skips.

The clip has proven a huge hit with animal fans, racking up more than 19 million views on TikTok alongside more than 50,000 comments from enamored viewers.

Reallquackiity described the clip as “the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” with badunicorn23 describing the kitten as “the sweetest.”

“I’m on the verge of tears,” kjjlmho commented. “This is so adorable.”

Cherry0_cherry declared:“I’m dying of cuteness.” Mozb.lyly said: “No one and I mean no one can tell that cute cat they are not a rabbit.”

Christinazuu said, “I see two bunnies,” and Candle Queen suggested: “Show him a real cat and film his reaction.”

Eisteepfirsichi, meanwhile, joked: “He really is a copycat.”

Researchers have found that cats are more adept at copying behavior than some pet owners may realize.

A study published in the journal Animal Cognition in September 2020 reported how Claudia Fugazza, an animal behaviorist at Budapest’s Eötvös Loránd University, and Fumi Higaki, a professional dog trainer from Japan, showed Higaki’s pet cat Ebisu various tricks she was already familiar with, accompanying them with the verbal command “Do it.”

Ebisu cottoned on to the fact that “Do it” was code for “Copy me” and was eventually able to mimic a range of actions she had not done before.

First, Ebisu performed familiar activities such as lying down, spinning around and opening a drawer on command

The researchers then tested out two new actions—raising their right hand and touching a box, and bending down and rubbing their face against a box.

In 16 trials, Ebisu mimicked her human companion 80 percent of the time and appeared to show an understanding of what her head and hand were.
