Although Kuala Lumpur were beaten 2-0 in their week one Super League match against Selangor on Sunday, the City Boys head coach Fábio Magrão was not bothered by the result.
The Brazilian was instead pleased with what was shown by his men, and told the press that they had played better than their Klang Valley Derby rivals.
“We played a good game. The result was a 2-0 win for Selangor, but it did not tell what happened. For sure, the visitors had their moments, they had good possession, but most of the time we had more control of the game.
“We created chances but did not control the game. This happens in football. I’m happy with what I’ve seen and with what they did. For sure we made some mistakes, which we will correct in the coming days.
“There’s no difference. We’ve played Selangor before, we know the tradition and that they are one of the biggest clubs in Malaysia. But we played better, it’s just that the result did not reflect our performance in the game.
“I’m satisfied and happy with what I saw because there’s still a long way to go. So we need to keep our heads up and use the next two days to prepare for the next game,” explained Fábio.
In the match that was held at the KLFA Stadium, Rufino Segovia opened the scoring in the 15th minute, and sealed the three points with his second in injury time.
The City Boys will travel to Paroi this Wednesday for their second league game, against fellow promotional side Negeri Sembilan.
