So Thompson beating defending champion Curry on Saturday in the Three-Point Contest at NBA All-Star Saturday in Toronto might not exactly be the most populist thing — a Splash Brother is a Splash Brother is a Splash Brother. But at least Klay had his well-deserved moment.

Thompson finished with 27 points in the second round to Curry’s 23 after dropping 22 in the first round to Curry’s 21. Poor rookie Devin Booker from the Suns had to deal with those two in the final round and only finished with 16.

Thompson’s best matches Curry’s best.
Thompson’s father, former NBA champion Mychal, told his son not to come home unless he won. Apparently he needed some form of bragging rights against fellow NBA dad Dell Curry.
Klay delivered.
The important part is that they both beat teammate Draymond Green, who embarrassingly tied comedian Kevin Hart in his own 3-point shootout.

None of that means Thompson is a better shooter than Curry. In every type of shot, Curry is better. But he can light it up, too — he’s shooting 42 percent on 3-pointers this season and was a deserving All-Star.
