Knicks president Phil Jackson made the announcement on Monday. Rambis and Fisher played 10 seasons together with the Los Angeles Lakers. He spent 13 seasons on the Lakers bench, including seven under Jackson.

Jackson says, “The three of us are similar in our philosophies and our approach to the game.”

Rambis was part of eight NBA title teams with the Lakers, either as a player, assistant coach or adviser/assistant general manager.

He was head coach with the Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves over three seasons.

Rambis finished his third stint as an assistant coach with the Lakers last season.
