As SN’s Sean Deveney pointed out, even as an executive, Jackson could provide a boost in Anthony’s career. The Knicks star insisted that he does not need to be consulted before every move, but the team did provide that courtesy, according to Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal. They are fully aware that a move of this magnitude could have an effect on Anthony’s free agency if he were not on board.
Jackson has been critical of the Knicks' roster in the past, even calling the Knicks' roster "clumsy." He also provided critiques of Anthony and Amare Stoudemire's inability to play alongside one another.
Still, Jackson was part of the Knicks' golden era as a member of championships teams in the early 1970s. And while he has not served in a front office role before, his resume speaks volumes around the league.
