Knockout City was first revealed during a Nintendo Direct earlier this year, and a gameplay trailer of Knockout City was shown during the PlayStation State of Play just about a week later. The fact that the game was shown at those two events is a good indication that Velan Studios intends to play nice with all parties involved. The game and this open beta are cross-play compatible, which is also proof of that.

Valen Studios and EA officially announced the Knockout City cross-play beta earlier today. Those who are interested do not need to pre-order the game and will not need any beta keys. All players need to do is download the beta, which can be done from a browser or within the chosen console’s “store/eshop.” It is possible to pre-load the beta now, but it will not go live until April 2, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. ET. The beta lasts through April 4, 2021, at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Game Rant was able to preview Knockout City last month and, although the game isn’t perfect, it seems worth giving a try for fans who might be interested during this free, open-beta weekend. It lacks polish in some areas, but the mechanics are solid and Knockout City appears to be a potential clear esports contender.

Knockout City releases for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on May 21, 2021, with backward compatibility for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
