In a blog post this week, developer and publisher Velan Studios announced that the free-to-play arena game will be kicking off its seventh season this Tuesday, August 30. Titled “Mutant Mutiny,” the season will introduce four new playable characters. Said characters are Neon, Susan, Ratfink, and Goober, and according to Velan, they’re mutant outcasts who emerge from the sewers of Knockout City to prove they deserve a place alongside the people living above ground.

And because it’d be a missed opportunity to have sewer-dwelling mutants but no Ninja Turtles, Velan confirmed that they will also be available at the start of Knockout City Season 7. Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello will be making their debut in their original 1980s cartoon forms, and each turtle will come with his own unique intro pose.
The turtles will be available in a special Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bundle that can be purchased for $19.99. What’s more, Velan will be adding more TMNT-themed content over the course of Season 7, such as a full-on crossover event and a Premium Brawl Pass with cosmetic items like April O’Neil’s outfit and Shredder’s Mask.
Other content that players can look forward to in Season 7 includes a brand-new arena called Sludge Works. The new map will take place in an industrial facility, the layout of which will constantly change as it fills with sludge. Additionally, Velan will introduce a number of general quality-of-life improvements. Private matches will receive new customization options, and players will have the ability to unlock extra custom character slots, doubling the amount from the current three to six. Velan notes, though, that each additional slot will cost 500 of Knockout City’s Holobux to unlock.
Going back to the Ninja Turtles, the retro versions of the Heroes in Half Shell have been having a good year with the well-received release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and the impending release of TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection on August 30. And with the turtles coming to Knockout City on that same day, fans will have plenty to enjoy next week.
Knockout City is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
