The Broncos running back shed more than a few tears during the pregame national anthem.

Moreno explained his tears after the Broncos held on to beat the Chiefs 35-28 in Kansas City.

"The emotion always gets to me," Moreno told Yahoo! Sports. "I am just thinking about everything in general through your whole life, just balled up into one. Yeah, it helps me. Sometimes I don't even notice it, it just comes."

While Peyton Manning has been the headliner in the Broncos' offense all season, Moreno's reliable running has been well respected as he's produced game after game. Just when it looked like the first-round draft pick was running out of time in Denver, he's broke out as a team leader and top feature back over the past season and a half.

Against the Chiefs, he turned his 19 touches into 90 critical yards and a receiving TD from Manning. Moreno's performances have even left his direct competition for carries, rookie Montee Ball in awe. Ball called them "tears of toughness."

"I see it all the time," Ball said after the game. "He does it in practice and he does it in games. It is all heart, it is his passion for the game. It is massive. We all feed off that energy. A lot of stuff sets him off. He just brings that energy when we need it."
