Bryant was arrested in July 2003 and charged with sexual assault and false imprisonment after an encounter with the woman at a resort in Colorado. Bryant told investigators the sex was consensual. Eagle County District Judge Terry Ruckriegle dismissed the charges in September 2004 after Bryant’s accuser said she would not testify at trial.

The woman filed a civil suit — which was later settled — against Bryant during the police investigation.
