The India captain said he was “really good friends” with all of the Australia players before the first Test, but revealed that his stance had changed following a 2-1 series win.
Not for the first time, Kohli had verbal exchanges with opposite number Steve Smith on and off field during a heated series, which the top-ranked side wrapped up with an eight-wicket success in Dharamsala.
Kohli, who missed the fourth and final Test due to a shoulder injury, has clarified his comments as he prepares to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
The prolific batsman tweeted: “My answer at the post-match conference has been blown way out of proportion. I did not categorically say the whole Australian team but only a couple of individuals.
“I continue to be in good terms with the few guys I know & who I’ve played with at RCB & that doesn’t change.”
Shane Watson, Travis Head and Billy Stanlake will be team-mates of Kohli at RCB this year, while Mitchell Starc, Kane Richardson and Nic Maddinson have previously played for the franchise.
