With the recent release of the director’s cut of Death Stranding, many of Kojima’s fans are likely interested to find out what the developer’s next steps will be. With no official news coming from Kojima Productions, the online community seems to have no choice but to run on Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid rumors just to sate the curiosity of the fanbase. However, with the announcement of the new division, new Kojima Productions projects will likely be revealed to the general public soon, even though they may not all be video game-related.

In a recent news post, Kojima Productions officially announced that it is expanding through a new business division that will focus on film, TV, music, and other forms of entertainment. The division will be spearheaded by another video game industry veteran, Riley Russell. Russell spent close to 30 years with PlayStation, in a variety of roles such as chief legal officer, and Vice President of business affairs. The new division will be based in Los Angeles, California, and the team’s focus will be to grow awareness for any of the upcoming Kojima Productions projects that are under development.

Yoshiko Fukuda, the business development officer of Kojima Productions, also shared that another goal of the new division is to discover new ways to entertain the company’s current captured audience, and go beyond the already familiar landscape of the video games industry. This might mean that Kojima’s unique video game concepts may be applied to other entertainment categories such as full-length films, soundtracks, and even video-on-demand series.

On the official Kojima Productions Twitter post, many of the fans seem very pleased by the announcement. Some have even said that films are what Kojima should have been working on in the first place, while others were just ecstatic at the idea of Kojima’s out-of-this-world video concepts translated into other forms. Hopefully Kojima Productions provides more details about its future projects so that fans will have something exciting to look forward to in the days to come.
