To say thank you to its community of fans, and to bring everyone together in celebration, Kojima Productions is releasing a handful of treats throughout the day. There are no big announcements or anything related to games; rather a handful of nice things to bring the company and fans closer. Fans anxious to hear what Kojima Productions is working on next will have to wait a while longer, as the team isn’t ready to share that information yet.

To start, Hideo Kojima shared a short video. During the video, Kojima provides a short statement, followed by a cinematic collage that presumably shows a photo of everyone involved with Kojima Productions up to this point. Each part of the Kojima Productions team has their hand raised to the camera, connecting with viewers in a unique way. Kojima’s statement at the start of the video sums up a lot of feelings, saying, “These five years have felt long and short at the same time.”

Five years in the video game industry is a comparatively short time. That Kojima Productions has a AAA game released as a new studio is an achievement, and a second game is already reportedly in the works. As such, it already feels like Kojima Productions is a veteran studio, especially since Kojima himself is so well known from previous work.

In subsequent tweets, Kojima Productions made a couple more announcements. It has released a new Fifth Anniversary Wallpaper featuring the company’s Ludens mascot, and some new Kojima Productions merchandise is now available in the company’s store. A variety of shirts and hoodies featuring some new Ludens art is available.

In 2021, fans can likely look forward to continued rumor and speculation regarding what Kojima Productions is working on next, whether it be the oft-rumored Silent Hills, a Death Stranding spin-off or sequel, or something entirely new. Not knowing what’s next is part of what makes being a fan of Kojima Productions exciting. The studio has as much freedom as it needs to do whatever it thinks is most exciting, and that should line up something big for Kojima Productions going forward.
