KKR one of the most successful teams in the IPL will have a new coach at the helm this year as their former coach Trevor Bayliss is now the coach of the England National team. He has been replaced by none other than the South African great Jacques Kallis who himself has played for KKR in the previous editions. KKR has a settled team and a captain Gautam Gambhir who is a proven customer.

The inclusion of the New Zealand’s big hitter Colin Munro will definitely strengthen their batting. However, the best news for them is definitely the return of the West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine who is an asset to the side. KKR will look to get their campaign off to a rollicking start today as they surely know the value of early momentum.

Delhi, on the other hand, after finishing at the 7th spot last season, has changed the outlook of their squad by bringing in young talent and proven mentors. Delhi went into the auction this year with a changed approach and focused on youth while picking their players. They bought West Indian rookie Carlos Brathwaite for a whopping amount in this year’s auction and Brathwaite justified his price tag with a stellar knock in the T20 World Cup final that helped West Indies trump England in the last over of the match.

Delhi Daredevils also grabbed eyeballs in this year’s auction by buying Indian all-rounder Pawan Negi for a hefty amount of INR 8.5 Crores. They have also roped in Rahul Dravid and Paddy Upton as their mentor and coach respectively which clearly suggests that Delhi Daredevils is trying to emulate the Rajasthan Royals model successfully.

Star spinner Sunil Narine is likely to be unavailable for this game as he went to his home after his father’s demise. It will be interesting to see whether veteran Chinaman bowler Brad Hogg gets a game tonight. The track at Eden is known to assist slow bowlers and KKR might opt for the Australian left-arm leggie who bowled well for the franchise last year.

Their batting will revolve around the likes of Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir and Manish Pandey who will look to start the innings with a bang. KKR has roped in the Kiwi Colin Munro who can smack the ball big and can be a potent option for the KKR team.

It will be interesting to see the team composition of the KKR team as they have players in almost every department. Team selection will be a key for Gambhir as they start favourites against a new-look Delhi Daredevils squad.

Delhi Daredevils Team

Delhi Daredevils has a new captain and plenty of new players in its side in this year’s IPL. The veteran Indian left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan will don the captain’s hat as Delhi will look to turn its fortunes in the lucrative league under his stewardship.

The South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock is in supreme touch and he should open for the Delhi franchise. Delhi has two good leg spinners in its side and the likes of Imran Tahir and Amit Mishra will look to exploit the conditions well at the Eden Gardens.

The inclusion of the burly all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite will definitely bolster their squad as he will look to repeat his last over heroics in the T20 world cup final which he did in the same ground a week ago. Delhi is heavily banking on the all-rounder from the Caribbean as they have bought him for a hefty account in this season’s auction.
